I’m getting a bit too attached to Lock which is a shame given he’s a fictional AI. If the author could find a way to give him a real body I’d appreciate it 😂
This was really gripping, and I didn’t get the murderer until the last minute - as soon as you realise it feels really obvious! Cleverly done and so much great commentary on grief and what it means to be human.

The Second book in the Kat and Lock series is another brilliant read . I would suggest reading book 1 In The Blink of an Eye to familiarise yourselves with the characters . This one starts quite soon after Book 1 finished and I was hooked from the very start . I know Aide Locke is an AI figure but I loved him and it can be a very funny Character at times. The Team and Locke are searching for a serial killer after two people are found murdered in the most horrific way . When the culprit was revealed I was speechless as certainly wasn’t expecting that . I look forward to reading Human Remains which is the next book in the series .

What an amazing book! There are very few thrillers that make me cry.
This is slightly futuristic but still totally believable. I am in awe of Jo Callaghan. This is a fabulous series of books!

This second installment of Kat & Lock did not disappoint.
The Future Policing Unit (FPU) that was created at the end of Book 1 has been given its first live case, what has been called in the press, "The Coventry Crucifier".
I was totally gripped, the writing was excellent, I could really imagine each member of the FPU, Lock in particular had grown since book 1, I felt so sad for him has he wrestled with issues he experienced whilst interacting with the world, realising what he was missing out on being a hologram.
The plot gave a new fresh take on violence by men, and how women are made to change their behaviours, etc and how it would look if things were turned on their head and men were asked to do similar to protect themselves.
Kat's story also progressed in this book as she continued to grieve her husband and the grieving process was sensitively covered in this sub-plot (The author obviously using her own experiences in the character of Kat)
I look forward to the next book in the series to see how the team and in particular, Lock progresses.
