This collection of sapphic, horror short stories reads like poetic prose (or what I think is poetic prose, I never studied literature...)
I'm not usually a fan of short stories, but loved some of these.
My favourites:
- Nature morte (nearly burst into tears reading this one)
- Flowers
- Only corpses stay
- Rath
Skimmed:
- The summoning: couldn't stand the writing on this one at all.

Had to preserve the line that made me dog-ear a book for once in my life: “Maggie off with the horses, hair bobbing behind her like she’s singing. She isn’t, she’s not allowed, nor any of us, unless it’s morning. But her voice is in me head, making rounds, notes banging off the inside of my skull like I’m the instrument her voice is playing.”

As with any short story collection, all the stories were very different. Some I actually did like, although they were inconveniently placed in the middle of the collection, so the start was rough and so was finishing it. After a while, the characters in the stories felt very repetitive. The prose in some of the stories also included accents, but they were very intermittent and inconsistent, so that didn't really add much.
Another thing lots of the stories had in common was the endings sucked. The story would start so good and interesting, but then the ending would be so meaningless it felt useless. The first two stories has this as well as Two Truths and a Lie. Some did actually have points and that made me like them. Only Corpses Stay and Rath were my favourites.
