As always with a short story collection, some of these worked for me more than others. Unfortunately I found many of them to be very similar, and by the end I was just…almost annoyed. I do like Fowley’s writing style and the way she constructs stories, but I think I’d be hard-pressed to tell you what happened in any specific story

About time we had stories about evil women in love.
Beautifully written, amazingly creative images form an amazing contemporary gothic aesthetic to this book. An intriguing mix of stories and ideas, love the references to mythology and magic
However, not scary enough (at all) to be described as a collection of horror stories.
Also some of the language and ideas feel like they’re trying too hard to be literary, makes the reading a little stilted.

A collection of sapphic apocalyptic horror stories. Some are more lighthearted (what do you do if you accidentally summon a demon?), some are more gruesome (ripping skin of one’s face or exploding into forest plants) but all deal with what would happen at the end of the world.
The writing is beautiful and really interesting going from first person narrator to second and third person as well. Some stories are written as more poem like, some as a drama script, one even in two truths one lie format. Most are set in Ireland, one in France and some it’s not clear. Also boyzone is part of one? Which is kinda hilarious.
Really loved it and highly recommend!

Fucking amazing visceral lesbian horror and trans inclusive this is so crunchy and the way its clustered/organized is so good 11/10 would read again. It was so hot at times and also so thinking and also maybe the first writing I've read that's made me connect to feelings around childbirth in any way lol

So many concepts are in my brain after reading this that I’m not even sure what to say.

A book of creepy women being queer and queer women being creepy. Or terrifying. And also quite sweet.

Easily the best book I've read so far this year, and probably one of the best I've read in a very long time. The writing is dreamy and poetic in places, then harsh and challenging in others. The stories felt cohesive, but each had its own original voice. Although this is a horror collection, it also had elements of fantasy, and felt quite literary, too. And, of course, the fact that is is lesbian-centred made me very happy. I can't recommend this book enough, it's hard to put into words how enjoyable a read this is, I almost wish I hadn't finished it so quickly, so I would have longer with that gorgeous prose.
