Revisit at another date, power read it as wasn't in the mood but refuse to DNF.
3.5 stars. I dig this author’s style and settings. Always someplace mysterious and moody, she has a good way of making the modern world feel questionable, like you’re not really sure what era you could be in. Similar to the last book I read by her (Nocticadia), this one also had a gothic castle, flashback chapters, and an older man and younger woman relationship. Unlike the other book though, a lot of the other elements of this story didn’t really work for me. I have nothing against age gaps, I myself am married to an older man, but I didn’t like it here. It felt off and they did not have much chemistry at all. He was obsessed with her (and not in a fun way) for having all these wild attributes which, sorry but are we talking about the same gal here? She was vanilla at best. And she was just dick-notized by him because let’s be real, she never had even decent sex before. She seemed too naive for the things he was into. So the whole romance side of this story was a far cry. The side plots of the story were a little all over the place at times. Bottom line is: errrry body is cray. The mom. The dad. The wife. The father in law. The doctor. The nurse. The butler? Probably. The aunt? Likely. But the mystery was good. Some twists I kind of figured out but a few I didn’t so that made it fun. It was a wild ride, I’ll say that much. I think I am ready to get lost in the realms of the Fae again though.
Honestly I was a little confused right from the start and then the flashbacks/return to present time happening nearly every chapter in a row didn’t help with my understanding of where this plot was going.
This book was a lot... and I could not put it down. I chanced upon it when trying to decide if keeping kindle unlimited was worth it, and gave it a shot. I could tell it was a dark romance, but I was still surprised by how dark and explicit it was

I ripped through this one after finishing Noticadia, I enjoyed this one almost as much, but felt the pacing was just slightly off until the end.
Dark gothic romance jam packed with triggers. I enjoyed Lucian’s character arc and the way the mystery of the Blackthorne family unfolded. Did not expect that plot twist at the end either!
Forbidden Love,
Age Gap,
BDSM,
Breath & 🔪 Play,
Slow Burn with serious spice once it hits.
3.75⭐️/🌶️🌶️🌶️.
