Isadora takes a job working for the Blackthornes to help with her aunt’s bills. Her aunt is desperate for her to reconsider though, as the Blackthornes are a family shrouded in mystery, tragedy, and rumour. Good twists, but didn’t really care about the actual characters at all.

I uh, have no idea how to rate this bizarre book. The New Adult category is such a hit or miss for me. I want to love it. I haven’t completely given up on the category, but sadly this was a miss for me.

I think I read these kinds of books for the thriller and suspense aspect above all else. The whole concept of the sadistic secret society is very unique. I have zero faith in the couple's long term potential. This fact becomes tiresome at times and I lose my interest in their relationship progression.
3-3.5 stars. I have to be in the mood to read a dark romance but I was definitely impressed by this authors storyline. The secret society thing was nothing like I’ve ever read, so kudos for that! I liked both of the main characters and while I had some issues with how the heroine was written, it didn’t take away from the story. (No fault of the author just a pet peeve of mine). Wish there was more substance to their relationship since it felt more like a physical relationship than one built on emotion. Great read though for anyone who wants an dark romance with a damaged hero! Age gap was definitely a plus!
