Psychological thrillers are my brain candy. And this was delicious ... full of twists and turns. I devoured this book! When I realized the major twist, my reaction was NOOOOO! I didn't want this character to be the abuser because I liked them.
Beth, an abused wife, is on the run from her abuser.
Sabine, a woman from the same town and who is also experiencing abuse in her marriage, is also missing at the same time. Is this coincidence or are they the same person?
This was a great weekend read.

So this is what happened…..
Goodreads Buddies: Sandy? SANDY!
Moi: What?
GB: OMG, you have GOT to read this!
M: Really? Let’s see….riveting suspense, missing woman, suspicious husband….no. No. No. No.
GB: Just listen! We know you said you were done with the whole domestic drama/do you really know your spouse thing that has spawned a kabillion books since Gone Girl.
M: Aww, so you HAVE read my reviews *blushes*
GB: Em…sure. Anyhoots, this is different. It’s smart, has killer twists & a great MC.
M: Look, I appreciate you wanting to pass on a book you enjoyed. I truly do. But I read a whack of these & I’m going to be brutally honest. At the end of the day, I found most of the stories, characters & titles interchangeable & formulaic. Some of the MC’s really got on my last nerve & don’t even get me started on the credibility of plot lines. In fact I rolled my eyes so much...
GB: Yeah, yeah, you thought they’d get stuck backwards. You mentioned that. Several times

Let me preface this review but saying I did enjoy the book but I figured out the ending about half way through. I read a lot of thriller and mystery books so that's probably why.
The story is engaging. Beth is on the run from an abusive husband. All while a husband (Jeffery) returns home to fine his wife (Sabine) missing. The story connects in an interesting why.
Jeffery quickly falls under suspicion on his wife missing status and Marcus the detective is trying to put the pieces together.
I did start thinking it was going one way but then I did figure out differently. The story is told from Beth, Jeffery, and Marcus's perspective.
The ending wraps up things quit nicely if I do say so myself. The book is well written and engaging. Out of 5 stars I'll give it a 3 just because I feel like I figured it out too soon. But I would recommend this book for the twists and turns.
