Why'd London have to make Buck anti-Native at the end tho
The best thing about this book is that is was short.
Completely pointless story that did not need to be told

It was okay, I got distracted a lot as the story didn't manage to hold my attention. Buck was kind of mean.
I liked this book much more than I expected! The main character obviously can't talk, which makes the book mostly description, but London still made me care about what was happening, and I wasn't expecting that. I would have read this years ago if I had realized what a short, endearing, and fascinating book it would be.
A short novel, written from the point of view of Buck, the St Bernard/Shepherd mix who is stolen from a peaceful California mansion and pressed into service as a sled dog.
I'm pretty sure that nobody knows more about dogs than Jack London.
My only quibble is London's tendency to draw his characters larger than life. Buck isn't just a dog, he's Superdog. Smarter, faster, stronger, and luckier than any other dog he meets.
It's a good yarn though, so I'll forgive him.

I read this in high school in the late 90s. It was so dull, and I just hated it. I might feel differently now, but I hated it so much that I can't even consider rereading it.
