Slightly easier to deal with than White Fang.

Good book. I had a surprisingly emotional reaction to it, especially the beginning.

Read for my 2017 book challenge: Book > 100 years old.

There's not much to say about Buck's story of going from pampered dog to wild thing except it's a story very well told. London makes a meal out of describing snow, ice, teeth, muscles, fur, exhaustion, joy, terror, and everything between while keeping the story fixed from a dog's point of view. I suspect this works even better as a serialized story, getting little adventures at a time, since from page 1 you know it's only a matter of time before Buck can leave humans behind and rediscover what his species has lost.
