2019 Pop Sugar Reading Challenge-A book that has inspired a common idiom.
I kind of feel like this was Roots for dogs. You have a perfectly happy house dog being kidnapped and enslaved as a sled dog. I found it depressing. But, it was also exciting and well-written, and emotional.

A lot of the time Wilderness or nature setting books are boring to me.... The Call of the Wild is not one of those books. You jump into the story of Buck Who becomes a sleigh dog and the struggles and learning of surviving in that environment.
