What a beautiful book. I’m not usually one for action or battles or the like, but I was GRIPPED the entire time. So many good moments, so many that made me actually gasp out loud.

I read this series so long ago that when I decided to start the journey again, I had forgotten most of everything. I am so glad I decided to pick it up again. Such a great epic tale! If you have never read this series, I highly recommend it, even through the slower parts/books. It is bittersweet to have completed it again as I am sad to close the last book and not know what happens afterwards.

There were some slow times but overall 5 out of 5 for the entire series.

"There are no endings, nor will there ever be endings, to the turning of the Wheel of Time." But this is...an ending.
I spent a year working my way through this epic. The world Robert Jordan spent fifteen years building goes to (all out) war. Sanderson channels a similar gravitas and ties off Jordan's weave, with capable hands. The very darkest moments of the saga are balanced against it's most radiant and moving. You just might laugh, you just might even cry, as you kiss this masterpiece goodbye. The Wheel of Time is a long literary climb, worth every single page. My gratitude to the late Robert Jordan and Brandon Sanderson.

Robert Jordan created one of the most memorable fantasy universes in the Wheel of Time, and I am grateful that Brandon Sanderson helped Jordan finish A Memory of Light after the latter’s death. It is a testament to Sanderson’s talent that he was able to mimic Jordan’s writing style so well, and it was the main reason I have been willing to read Brandon Sanderson’s other work. At the same time, I feel the need to steer nascent readers of Jordan’s work away from starting The Wheel of Time saga. I loved and hated the entire series, which seems like an unhealthy relationship to have with a book series. The characters are both flat and lovable. It’s an onanistic male fantasy with stale relationship tropes. On the other hand, the magic in the series feels more alive than in any other fantasy series I have  read, with the notable exception of LeGuin’s Earthsea Trilogy.

The end of the last book of The When of Time.
