This entry in the series was...fine. Not a lot really seemed to happen. It felt very short. Without spoiling, I was looking forward to something new, but we just got more of something old and I'd rather move in a new direction. But there ya go.

Great read! NEVER saw the end coming :) Can't wait for the next installment to be delievered

I technically have the next book in this series, but I don't think I'll bother reading it. I think I'll stop now. I liked Merrit and her crew, but the plots are just getting too ridiculous and predictable. I can only stand so many books in a row in which the supernaturally special heroine, who somehow bypassed being new and inexperienced and EARNING trust, struggles against the short-sighted and self-important bureaucracy. It's like no matter what else the plot involves, the megalomaniac leader who the good guys have to work around just gets changed out, washed and repeated. I'm bored with it now. And I think the author must even know the books were becoming overly formulaic. There's a joke about how the main character loves a series, despite it becoming just so.

Thanks to my SOS Secret Santa!

The plot was really interesting, but didn't develop at a good pace AT ALL. Nothing was happening other than weird dreams and weird tension between
Spoiler Merit and Jonah
until the last 100 pages (if that). Also, Catcher said some PRETTY UNCOOL things at one point about """"""""disrespecting Ethan's memory"""""""" by being interested in someone else. That's some bullshit. So that's gotta end, or my interest in this series is gonna end.

Not my favorite in the series. I felt that the "twist" was a bit obvious and was a little annoyed at Merit (and Catcher) for not figuring out what was going on sooner.

I was very disappointed that Ethan died in [b:Hard Bitten|9581001|Hard Bitten (Chicagoland Vampires, #4)|Chloe Neill|https://d.gr-assets.com/books/1372850762s/9581001.jpg|12773071]. As frustrated as I was about that, I have read other books where characters that I loved were killed off, but you know what, those characters were able to move on and so was I. The author had a plan and the character grew and I loved them all the more for what they were going through. In this book, I feel that Ms. Neill turned her back on her characters by bringing Ethan back. I don't know, maybe there is more to it and she has a plan, but it doesn't seem that way to me at this point. I will read the next book to see where this leads, but I'm not optimistic at this point.

Oh how I love Chloe’s writing!

The absence of Ethan was felt in this book. It was weird not having him them and I felt like Merit; like I had lost of part of me.

We follow Merit as she navigates through her life after the death of her master and lover, Ethan. As she learns how to live and do her job without his guidance. It was an incredibly wild ride and I hated it. I get the fact that she needed to grown not only as a person but as a Vampire, but God Damn you Chloe how could you do this to us?

Regardless of having no Ethan, I still loved the story and the Arc but I hated the cliff hanger because now I have to go and buy then next one ASAP.

Jonah, oh Jonah. Thank you Chloe for thowing in this huge curve ball. It was a good one. I will forever the grateful for this character. He’s funny, fierce, and loyal and exactly the kind of stability Merit needs in her life and someone who can kind of challenge her.

Chloe threw a lot of things at us in this book, so much stuff that I couldn’t think who was behind everything and that’s what kept you reading.

This was such a good book to add to Merit’s story and I can’t wait to see where we end up next!

Drink Deep is book five in the Chicagoland Vampires series. This series revolves around Merit, a recently turned vampire trying to find her new place in life at Cadogan House. The previous book left us with Merit grieving over the loss of another vampire in her house. I wasn't sure where this one would go and hoped I wouldn't see a crying leading lady the entire time.

After the events in the previous book, humans are not very pleased with the vampires and are protesting outside the House more so than before. Add to it that something is causing the lake to turn dark and the sky to turn red and you have some confused and pissed off people that think the vampires are to blame somehow. Merit and the others decide to investigate in an attempt to find the culprit before everyone turns against the vampires for something they had no part in. With no leads in sight, Merit winds up chasing her tail and issues just continue to escalate.

Drink Deep left me needing the next book asap mainly because I need to know where the series is going to go now. I don't like when characters that die manage to come back to life so it pissed me off somewhat. I didn't see a lot of things in this novel coming so at least it kept me on my toes. I'll have to see how the next book plays out, hopefully amazing. If you're a fan of vampires in Urban Fantasy I think you'd enjoy this series.
