This is his worst book…it was so bad.
——————————————————————
Okay, I wrote down my thoughts with this one as I read it:
I know Nicholas Sparks is from New Bern or whatever but Jesus does he have a book NOT in New Bern? Or NC? Lol.

Also, the description of the store at the beginning is almost carbon copy of the one from Safe Haven minus being right next to the water.
And so far he sounds like a carbon copy of Logan from The Lucky One and () from Safe Haven mixed together. Though I do appreciate that unlike Logan he acknowledged his PTSD more and mental health, particularly of veterans, is an issue that is being spotlighted.
This info dump at the beginning is not the way to do it Nick, come on. I find it so corny when the character starts off like “well im here, partly because of this and this, which I’ll tell you about soon enough.” The storytelling narrative like that is only good for fairytales, and even then is iffy.
Annnnnd here are the daddy issues. And the tragic death of a parent (in this case both)
Ugh, he sucks. He’s full of himself, doesn’t remember the names of girls he’s dated in the past (serious or not) and automatically assumes Natalie has a boyfriend already.
Ope there it is, cue him being in love with her after 4 conversations, 3 of which were barely anything. I’m sure she’ll realize she’s in love with him later the same night or when she inevitably goes to Easley with him.
“I could see in her radiant smile that she was feeling the same way as me”
Jesus.
Oh of COURSE she knew she was into him the minute she saw him. And just couldn’t stay away. Gack.
He’s going to meet up with “Natalie” and it’s going to be her boyfriend that’s gonna try to rough him up.
oh. guess not.
Annnnnd I’m surprised by none of this.
——————————————————————-
And then I stopped taking the notes because for the love of God this was just….

Rounded this book up to a 3.5.

no tears for this book thank goodness.

I have always loved Nicholas Sparks romance books, they have always been one of my favourite to pick up and read. This book may have not been my favourite but there are some of his other books that have definitely hit the 5/5 mark. I do hope to read every book that Nicholas Sparks has written and hopefully I also find the covers of the books that I want. I also thought at first that Trevor seemed a little bit creepy in the beginning I felt like he was coming on to strong to the policewomen. I did find this book interesting when Callie got brought into it. I am excited to continue reading his books and seeing if there are anymore five star reads. I did like the ending of this book where they could finally be together. When i think Nicholas Sparks I don't think mystery I think Romance and it's why I love his books so much, because there's bound to have some romance and sometimes it's going to make you cry. I am excited to read more of the older Nicholas Sparks books, because everyone seems to love those and there are so many movies made from past Nicholas books. Can't wait to read more.

This was a very sweet story. It didn't go in the direction I thought that it would. And the side stories they weave into the main story are just as gripping!

The writing was lacking, the characters were poor Natalie isn't good for Trevor at all! Trevor is too good for her and Callie was just a weird twist that was lacking too wouldn't recommend I just read because I'm a Nicholas Sparks fan... Very disappointed ☹️

This book was very slow in the beginning. Then it started to pick up. I wasn’t the biggest fan of Trevor and Natalie. Callie and Trevor’s grandpa really kept me interested in the story. Although this wasn’t a typical Sparks book I did enjoy it, except for the slow beginning.
