Okay, not going to lie, I think this has been my least favourite Lucy Score book I have read at the moment. There were quite a few things that just didn’t sit right with me. The main one being I just felt like the pacing for this book was all over the place and it felt as though things moved way too quickly and it was just too much. I also didn’t find the characters as likeable as I have in some other Lucy Score books. I said to my friend if I am acting this way in my 30’s feel free to slap me across the face. I found that Luke and Harper were so immature for the their ages and I got sick of their hate sex very quickly. That isn’t a trope that is for me and it drives me nuts.

The story itself felt very rushed and just like the author wanted to get something out on the shelves for a quick cash grab. I did think it was a cute story but the execution of it was just very poor and didn’t hit as hard as her other books.

There were also way too many sex scenes in this book and I was quickly rolling my eyes at these two. They felt more like two hormonal teenagers than adults. It was crazy.

The final conflict was also very disappointing. I was so bored and felt like I got nothing out of it.

I will be continuing this series as I have borrowed them from my library but I'm hoping more care is put into the other two books.

Harper + Luke

she's running from her life, he's leaving for the army (navy?) he lets her stay in his house, and she basically falls in love with the city, with the people, with the life she has there, even when he's away. he comes back, after an injury and does respect that she loves being there, and loves him. he's a widower who does not want to move on. they accept each other, but it does feel like she likes the town and his family better than she likes him.

Read it for a book club and I was only able to get through it by listening to it at 2x speed. It’s just an x-rated hallmark movie where nothing really happens and it was way too long.

Luke and Harper’s story was almost perfect.

This small town romance has a lot going for it.

Harper is wild, brave and fun. She just needs a bit of luck on her side, to slow down, and finds her place in life.

Luke is stoic, broken and going through the motions. He needs something or someone to knock him on his ass.

They are perfect for each other. And the spice was spicy!

My only issue is the jump at the end. I could have used a bit more time with them before that.
