This volume seems really simple, but that's not necessarily a bad thing. Simple as in its very straightforward and seems like a classic action-packed comic. The dynamic of the new trio of Kamala, Miles, & Sam is great and I need more of them!

Really good! I wasn’t sure what to expect from a new version of the Avengers but all of their personalities came through so well, I’ll definitely pick up the rest of the series.

3,5* I liked this team a lot or at least the idea of this team. Just to start with the thing I did not like, I felt like some of the characters seemed kind of off... I don't really know why but maybe it's just because a team-book is different in that you don't read from a certain characters point of view and therefore don't really get their thoughts and I kind of missed that. Maybe that's also why I sometimes did not get why the characters acted the way they did.

Apart from that I quite enjoyed it. Overall I really liked the dynamic of this team and also really enjoyed reading about some new characters like Nova and Miles. What I liked most was that compared to the other Avengers series I started to read this was a lot more lighthearted and humorous. I also quite liked the art it wasn't that special but I think it was still really nice.

New, post-Secret Wars lineup mixing things up in a fun, fresh way with the old--Iron Man and Vision--the different--Captain America (the former Falcon) and Thor (Jane Foster)--and the new--Ms. Marvel (Kamala Khan), Spider-man (Miles Morales) and Nova. Waid does a great job capturing the spirit of the classic Avengers.

Only gripe: Cap and Nova are both named Sam. This seems like something that should have been caught early on.

Ms Marvel/Nova shipper 5ever tbh

Mark Waid writes good superhero stories; Kingdom Come, the FF "Imaginauts" arc(s), Heaven's Ladder, Empire; the man's chops are not to be questioned. He will make you care about the team which is assembled. Here, he not only nails some teen dialogue, but also introduces a moment between new Thor and new Cap that will thrill you and break your heart, while doing the same with the Vision, who is sometimes hard to write compellingly. The Big Bad is a little predictable, but still well done, and the non-linear presentation of some of the plot elements give us something like unreliable narrator without falling back on cheap shit like that (I'm looking at you, Gillian Flynn). The art in this is top-of-the-line and expressive, and I look forward to the obligatory three volumes or so of this team before the line-up changes again.

I was looking for this and couldn't be happier. Amen!

The Avengers were one of my favorite comics when I was a kid. I liked how the big stars, like Cap, Thor, and Iron Man, and Avengers stalwarts, like the Vision and Jarvis, interacted with newer, less established, or just less famous characters (Wonder Man, the Beast, Hawkeye.)

So, I was happy with this Avengers reboot. But I think I might be the core audience they're looking for.

The Vision got to play a bad guy, but it felt kinda rushed in the midst of all the other stuff. I was a bit surprised to see some vintage (70s-era) baddies making an appearance. One of them (Equinox) made his first appearance in a Marvel Team Up I bought YEARS AND YEARS AND YEARS AND YEARS ago. It was pretty funny when he showed up, the Avengers said "Who is that guy?!?" and I yelled "IT'S EQUINOX!!!!" (Disclaimer: no actual yelling occurred.)

Nova and Ms. Marvel, and Flaptain America and Thora seem to be the young and old romances that keep a team book going.

Characterization weak spots: Tony Stark (seriously, I don't get the attraction) and Miles Morales. Miles, in particular, seems to be there to just strike cool Spider-Man poses.

I'd pick up the next trade if it's on sale, or a gift, but it's nice to know that "The Avengers" are still plugging along.

Truth be told, I would read anything starring Kamala, Sam, and Miles. Team them up with current Captain America and Thor, throw in Iron Man and Vision for nostalgic tie-in, and I'm totally sold. Mark Waid knows how to balance individual storylines with teamwork: all the characters are uniquely themselves while participating in team dynamics. Couldn't ask for a better Avengers.

Love Ms. Marvel and Nova!
