What is this funky cowboy McCarthy man injecting into this honky-tonk ass book because it’s tasty

This book took me by surprise. I'll admit I'd never read a synopsis of it before. I don't know why but I was expecting a peaceful slice of life with two men sitting on their porch in rocking chairs.

Boy was I wrong.

Chigurh felt more like a force than a person. And in the end, I felt that was the point. He represents inevitability. The change Sheriff Bell sees coming in the world. A violent change that will upend the lives of everyone who's used to the way things are. Something we know is coming, but can't stop.

No Country for Old Men is fast-paced. Which is great. But I didn't connect with it on an emotional level. It's one of those books that I can appreciate and see the value of, but it just isn't one that I'll pick up again and again. I was curious, but not changed.

A simple review:

This is probably the best book I’ve ever read and probably my favorite. Very engaging, you get sucked into every tense scene. I love Cormac McCarthys writing style. I had the audiobook version and the narrator was phenomenal. I loved the use of the word “and” to add to the suspense. I kept thinking “and what and what and what?!?!?!” But yea, this was an incredible read(listen?). 100% would do it again.

PS: I felt like Javier Bardem took Anton Chigurh’s character to the next level.
