I really wish I had read this before I saw the movie, and wish I had read it before I watched the move half a dozen times. The movie is a great retelling of this story (since the book started as a screenplay), but still cannot compare to McCarthy's prose. There is more clarity, but also much more vagueness. A shape undefined. What else could it be? "The point is there aint no point."

"You think when you wake up in the mornin yesterday dont count. But yesterday is all that does count. What else is there? Your life is made out of the days it's made out of. Nothin else. You might think you could run away and change your name and I dont know what all. Start over. And then one morning you wake up and look at the ceilin and guess who's layin there?"

This book was tense and had me on the edge of my seat the entire time. I watched the movie before I even knew about McCarthy, and I must say that the film translated the source material wonderfully.
