This book was so good. I felt like though the beginning, despite it's violence was a little slow but as you got to know the characters more it picked up. I actually really enjoyed the ending (even though I wanted so badly to know whether or not Anton died).

I really liked this book. It follows a young man who fines a big bag of money from a heroin deal (he finds loads dead) he takes the money and goes on the run with police, a psycho and various hit men after him. The way the scene shifts a lot chapter too chapter was a bit challenging but I liked that style of writing. I mainly liked the book because of the sheriffs frequent reminiscing about how times and changing and like the nature of mankind and what not. Really enjoyed it, it felt really like rugged and Texas shtyle

If I could have given more than 5 stars I would have.
What a tremendously well done job of exploring the idea of mortality from the perspectives of good and evil because, in the end, no matter which side you’re on it’s the same fundamental thing.
No Country pulls you in multiple directions at the same time and makes you reflect on yourself, how you got to where you are at that exact moment and what, if anything, you can do about it.
We’re all a coin in a pocket that has taken 22 years to get to this exact moment. We’re also all that single lucky coin, too.

McCarthy calculates the minimum words necessary to describe a scene, writes the scene and then deletes half the sentences. It makes it a pretty interesting read because you really need to pay attention. Hard to process some sections as an audio-book as you can't tone out for even a few seconds.
The story was pretty close to the movie meaning they're both enjoyable. I was hoping the book would resolve some parts of the movie I thought were missing but nope the book happens the exact same way.

It is gory, violent, ruthless and racist—if more than a little inscrutable—all in the service of a higher purpose, to wit: a reflection on the effects of unbridled greed and materialism; and the random and ineluctable fact of death. No book for the faint of heart.
