This book had me hooked from the very beginning. My only wish is that I had saved this read for October. It was the perfect spooky read.

I will say that I hated our main male character. It was never really explained why he couldn’t say anything about his past. So it was frustrating when he had moments he could speak up and didn’t.

It was good, but I was a little disappointed since I was expecting more creepy and scary stuff to happen. And the husband really irked me in this book. Like why did he let it get this far and do nothing at first? The ending isn't bad; I was hoping it would go in the other direction, but it's not, which is sad and tragic, to be honest.

Anyway, if you love horror and need a fast-paced read, I highly recommend this book.

I think it was well written/read. Reads like a film and is quite predictable but horror tends to be that way.
Removed a point and a half because of animal death and the description of the other deaths in here

A chilling book about generational trauma, with horrifying supernatural elements. Was on the edge of my seat the entire time, finishing it in two sittings because I had to know what happened next.
Artfully explored the cycle of generational trauma through a scary and gory lens. The descriptions of the demon were  visceral and terrifying, with the possessed child resulting in a bleak ending of another repetition of this dark cycle
. Absolutely recommend for lovers of supernatural horror or beginners to the genre like me.
