loveddddd it! It was such a beautiful book about relationships and love platonic, familial, romantic, between a community. It really was about a person finding their place in the world and making a home for themselves. Loneliness was a major theme and as someone who related with some of the struggles the main character faces it made me reflect on my own life more than a romance book typically does.

A quick, fun, delightful, engaging romance read. Emily Henry does my favorite kind of romance - the characters have realistic motivations, difficult backgrounds, and emotional insight. The banter is bantering and the connection between characters doesn't feel contrived. I enjoyed the personalities of both MCs and appreciated the wholesome-yet-damaged backgrounds.

My only gripe is that the misunderstanding/alienation phase was so short and easily resolved. Honestly. Our MC worked harder to regain the affection of her upset friend than she did for her paramour.

Overall super fun and I want to rate it highly, but not 5 stars, because it lacked some of the depth of emotion I would prefer. And while it wasn't instalove it sure felt like it at times; we never see the MMC fighting against his own hold ups.

This book was a perfect mix of romance, self-reflection, friendship and family dynamics. I really love the way Emily Henry takes the romance genre and makes it more profound, more complex - all the while being really funny, too. Only reason why this didn't get 5 stars is because the smut scenes gave me whiplash, and I couldn't fully get into them because I was scared a family member was going to interrupt them halfway through. But other than that, this is great.

I'm glad I didn't give up on Henry after disliking People We Meet On Vacation so much 💕

love love this book and emily henry’s poetic writing. i laughed and cried and was left with that warm fuzzy feeling that you can only get from a good romance book.

edit: i bumped up my rating because i can’t stop thinking about this book. such a sweet story 🩷

My third Emily Henry and probably my favorite. I just really loved all of the characters (except Peter and Petra, both of whom I wanted to physically fight) and the setting was so charming. The two things keeping this from being a 5/5 for me are how quickly the relationship moved, especially given how it started, did give me pause at times, and the fact that Ashleigh’s kid was in school all the time but this whole story took place over a summer. Please, authors, I beg of you to look up a realistic school year calendar for the places your stories are set.
