I felt this book so deeply. I don't quite know why. But I've missed romance books. And this one made me actually laugh. Out loud. The dialogue just felt so natural and I loved all the tropes. Every time I was annoyed by an action of a character that makes things complicated, they do what I would've done, the normal thing and not something to elongate the story. It so helped that I envisioned Miles as my current crush haha, so every touch and word felt even more intimate. Loved it!

I felt like I was squealing and kicking my feet the entire time - the banter and flirty behaviour was top notch! I was swooning for Miles from the get-go despite his initial description as like… a burnout, basically (and despite his working in the restaurant/adjacent industry, a lifestyle that stresses me out at this point in my life, sorry lol). I was surprised that some of the family/other drama kinda hit me where it hurt based on my own personal history but it was such a nice balance to the rest of the book and made it feel more “real”.

My only (very petty) complaint was FMC’s name and the ex-girlfriend’s name - I just dislike it when too many characters have ~offbeat~ or uncommon names. Also the bff’s ex-husband - Duke? Really? What was he, a great dane? Somehow Mulder worked though, lol.

Knocked off 0.25 stars because Daphne frustrated me at times with how obviously blind she was about the way Miles felt about her from the start, other than that, perfection. Miles has my heart😭
