I'm not rating this book.

This book is a collection of poem like stories. My brain can understand or comprehend poetry so I'm the worst person who could rate this book.

As I'm not the ideal reader for this type of writing I won't be rating this book.

If you enjoy poetry then give this a go because it has a really interesting premise (sadly I just can't understand it).

If you've read any Jeremy Ray or subscribe to his newsletter, you're familiar with his micro stories. These flash fiction stories are all under 100 words, but never fail to provoke some sort of emotional response, and some are so beautifully written that they verge on poetry.

In this collection we have 56 micro-stories. They vary greatly in topic and genre - we have girls texting with their crushes, elderly serial killers, witches, grocery deliveries, alien invasions. There's a story for everyone. It was hard to choose, but my favorite is "Not a Witch."
fast-paced

I LOVE Jeremy Ray’s writing. I literally enjoyed every single story. “In My Dreams” was my favorite. It was inspired by The Song Of Achilles, which is my favorite book, and it made me feel like SOA did. This is my 2nd time reading from Jeremy Ray and I’ve loved both!

An e-copy of the book has been provided by the author, Jeremy Ray, in exchange for an honest review.

If you have been here for long, you will know that I am not much of a re-reader. I enjoy reading books again; but, given the choice, I would much rather pick something else and get the chance to find a new gem. However, Jeremy Ray‘s work is easily one of the very few books that I am willing to pick up again (especially The House Plant). A huge part of it is because they are short. Most importantly, though, is the way he writes. His writing calms me down and I really get into a trance while reading it. I really am grateful to have discovered him this year!

Little Book of Tiny Tales is pretty much self-explanatory. The book is a collection of “tiny tales” but they are not just short-stories, they are flash fiction. The abruptness of these stories might make you think that there would not be anything special about them. On the contrary, that abrupt nature will shock you. Each story is poetic and brings you into a wonderful lullaby. Albeit dark, I found myself lost in the stories and having the desire to read it all over again and relive the moments. Possibly appreciate them more than my first reading.

In this collection, you will see the very foundation of a good writing. The experimental nature of the writing in following random premises, a dream, or that mysterious cold touch on your shoulder that tells you to share a certain kind of story makes the book perfectly splendid. If not for the difficulty of obtaining a physical copy of his works, I would have, without even blinking, bought any book Jeremy Ray releases.

There is a wonderful allure to this collection that really calls out to me. I highly recommend everyone to read it, or any of Jeremy Ray‘s published works for that matter. You might not enjoy every single flash fiction in this contained stories, but there will for sure be one that calls to heart. Perhaps you will even give it another go and have a renewed vision of those that you did not particularly enjoy. I have said it and I will say it again, Jeremy Ray writes well and I am here waiting for him to write a full novel.

3 ⭐!
What a nice little book... The author calls them micro stories and he writes tiny little shorts as add ons to his other books and novellas and this compilation is just really good. The stories cover all sorts of genres and topics, some subjects more serious then others. Would recommend, short and easy read.

I became a huge fan of Jeremy Ray when he sent me The House Plant, which remains one of my top 10 books I’ve ever read.

The Little Book of Tiny Tales Volume 1 is a collection of 56 micro stories. Each story is the length of two tweets, which astounds me he can tell a story in so few characters. Before each micro story, Jeremy describes the inspiration behind it, which I feel adds even more to the micro story itself. Jeremy describes his book as “a flash fiction anthology that is like a box of assorted chocolates with story pieces meant for those ready to experience their stories in bite-size pleasures” and this could not be a more accurate statement.

I liked each and every one of the stories in this collection, but I loved the following “A Bookmark”, “Blink”, “Apple Pie”, “Cleaning Duties”, “Old Auntie May’s Groceries”, “Limited Options”, “Admitted”, “The Gift of the Only Ones”, “Heads or Tails”, and “In My Dreams”. They may be tiny tales, but they are mighty. The range of emotions you feel as you read through each story will leave your head spinning. The creativity and thought provoking questions are outstanding. I can’t wait for more micro stories. Thank you Jeremy Ray for allowing me to read your book in exchange for this review.

It is definitely at least a 4.75 for me. This is the 2nd work of his that I read. Like him, I’m trying to explore different genre and style of writing to read (not to write🤭). This book was not what I expect it to be when I read the title. I thought it will be another short story style, however it is more like poetry (and I remember when I was younger, I don’t like poetry - perhaps because I don’t understand them). Imagine my surprise when I like what I was reading, understood most of them (some of them still need me to reflect on them more), I also like that each tiny tale was preceded by an insight to them (hmm maybe that’s why I understand them 😏). The other plus is that within this book, it switch from genre to genre, perfect for what I’m aiming for right now. It brings mystery, horror, laughter, reality and loads more for one to contemplate.

I will definitely want to have a second read of these in very near future, perhaps one tiny tale a week or a day (rather than finish it within a few hours like what I just did), because I think that is better suited to this collection of tiny tales.

Thank you for this digital review copy Jeremy Ray.
