I NEED Lillian to gain a singular ounce of self respect. I’m glad she finally stood up for herself at the end but I was still disappointed. I’m happy the children ended up with Lillian though because Jasper is a nightmare.

Flawed characters are so much more interesting than perfect ones. Apparently this is supposed to be dark comedy, and although I could see that, I mostly found it weird and eerie and intriguing. A somewhat unreliable narrator, fire children who pull at my heartstrings, a Stepford wife with a twist, it all somehow works.

1- best audiobook of fiction I’ve ever heard. No wonder it won awards. Narrator is phenomenal
2- so freaking weird/ quirky which is not my deal
3- in the end, glad Vimi recommended it. Heartwarming story of messy people, love, and how complicated it can be.
