I love this fun, gentle view of a childhood that could be difficult. Instead, the parents work as hard to make their child comfortable as they do to clean the office buildings.

What if your parents are working the night shift, and there is no babysitter to look after you?

This interesting, and innovative story, based on personal experiences, deals wonderfully with the reality of children, who are often not seen or portrayed in books.

This is one of my favourite picture books. This isn’t like the typical character based picture books but it tells a beautiful story in a great way. It has a melancholic tone to it which I think is rare in picture books these days.
Also, Helena Rhee and Pascal Campion are the perfect author/illustrator duo.

A beautiful story about parents who work second/third shift and have to bring their child to work when their babysitter has to cancel. The parents tell their son a story of a paper kingdom and dragons, making the best of a not-so-good situation.

Tonight, Daniel has to tag along with his parents at work as they clean a giant office building. There they start to tell him about the Paper Kingdom and the King and Queen who rule over the building and the dragons that make messes. This is a moving story about a hardworking family and a clever look at a modern office all in one.

Read for Librarian Book Group

Daniel's parents are night janitors. One night he must accompany them to work. Gorgeous illustrations and a story about people who often don't get to tell their stories.

A story that is not often told- sometimes parents who work at night must bring their child with them. And it isn't always fun or easy for anyone. But in this story, a little imagination makes the inconvenience much more enjoyable.

This book made me feel sad for parents who have to work nights. Also for the love of God, pick up your papers and throw them away. The night janitors shouldn’t have to clean up for the “lazy kings.”

This book is written in honor of parents who work hard for their children. The story is about two parents who clean an office during the night shift. To making coming to work fun, mom and dad make up stories about the people who work in the office building they clean. It has a good message about treating others with kindness.
