This book made me feel sad for parents who have to work nights. Also for the love of God, pick up your papers and throw them away. The night janitors shouldn’t have to clean up for the “lazy kings.”

This book is written in honor of parents who work hard for their children. The story is about two parents who clean an office during the night shift. To making coming to work fun, mom and dad make up stories about the people who work in the office building they clean. It has a good message about treating others with kindness.

A lovely homage to Rhee's parents, many hardworking parents and guardians will recognize the familiarity of having to take children with them to the workplace (my mother certainly did).

This sweet story is based on the author's own childhood experiences accompanying his parents to their work as night janitors. This is a reality for so many hard-working families, who can't afford to miss work but also take a risk bringing their child to work. This story is heartwarming, and also a great example of how America's labor system is so f-ed up. People should be able to make a living wage and have adequate options to take time off to care for their children when needed.

Good read aloud for an older group. Really a wonderful story about a hard working family just trying to get by.

I thought this story needed more fleshing out. It seemed like it could have made more of what was going on.

No one could watch the boy, so the parents who are both janitors at a high rise building downtown had to go to work on the midnight shift and they had to bring the kid with them.

Instead of finding a couch and putting him in it, they take him around and he can see the messy papery space these people work. The parents make a game out of it and it’s a Kingdom of paper with a mad paper King and a Queen and they have messy dragons that work for them. They tell the kid to be the King of the Kingdom some day.

It’s a nice enough story, but it didn’t seem to connect dots and to really work. There seems that something else could be there.

The nephew enjoyed the dragons, even if it was in the boys imagination. Mostly, he thought this was boring and he was sad that the kid had to go to work with his parents. He gave this 2 stars.

I love that this is based on the author's life growing up. The story is full of empathy and imagination, and the art is lovely.

A beautiful story about parents who work second/third shift and have to bring their child to work when their babysitter has to cancel. The parents tell their son a story of a paper kingdom and dragons, making the best of a not-so-good situation.
