Read this book in the early 90s when it came out; it was the first book I read that I really liked. For nostalgic sake, I read it again 2020, still a good story.
I read this a LONG time ago. I think I was in middle school or something. But I remember it being a real page-turner. May be one of the first mysteries I'd read.

Possibly it’s my nostalgia for this book, but I still find it pretty compelling though I can definitely do without all the mid-90s fat shaming.
Nothing of much significance really happens in this book. I was going in expecting an awesome mystery, adventure, or thriller book (for middle school age of course) but finished the book feeling quite disappointed. Instead of pursuing the idea of parents who kidnap you, they don’t - they just put some suspense in. But there’s no climax.
The book was boring honestly. I could see why someone would continue the series, as the books ends on a cliffhanger, but personally I will not be continuing. It’s not worth the money.
