⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/5

I have been a fan of Harloe Rae's since her earlier stories published a couple of years ago. Her stories just keep getting better and better. As soon as she announced a new small town romance, I immediately jumped on the train, ready to rip this one open and devour it. One of the best things about Harloe's writing is her ability to convey words off a page as if her readers are watching events unfold with their very own eyes.

This story revolves around the relationship between Rylee and Rhodes, two adults dealing with the heavy loss of loved ones, but due to their partnership, they are forced to work together. At first, Rhodes is portrayed as the hardened, angry, and bitter alpha male who treats women as a piece of meat. But readers are given the opportunity to explore a different side of Rhodes, and as soon as his personality begins to unfold, let me tell you...SWOON!!

"I absently wonder if this woman was dropped in my path to drive me straight to madness."

I absolutely loved the banter between Rylee and Rhodes. It is hysterical and there were moments where I literally laughed out loud. The story also uncovers deep and emotional settings which I really appreciated because it provides a sense of meaning to the story instead of heated moments over and over again between the couple.

"When you're ready, we'll exchange broken hearts and mend them together."
"Oh?"
"Mine for yours."

This was a great read and I cannot wait to read more from Harloe!

Me in my Notes app at chapter 16: idk if i’m just stupid but so much of this book didn’t make sense? the characters had literally JUST met and somehow both were on their worst behavior immediately? like i felt like i had missed a whole other book that explains the feelings and where they came from, etc. bc the further i got into it i literally was still so confused??? and i feel like a lot of the banter literally was a riddle and didn’t make any sense …?

Me now after finishing: I LOVE THEM I LOVE THEM I LOVE THEM. some of that confusion still stands. but whew i loved this couple and i loved how once they truly set their mind to being together, they did! and i love how there was no 3rd act break up. and also ✨that scene✨ towards the end in the bar…

This book was so cute! I can’t believe I waited so long to start it. I love that there was no major conflict like there usually is. So cute!
