I'm calling it. I tried four times. What a terrible ending to a phenomenal series.
Oh man this is a really tough one to rate. I think I'm going to call it a 3.5 -it was by far the most captivating book in the series, I read the last 300 pages in one day and couldn't put it down. But that ending though! On one hand I admire the author for creating a really unique story and trying to do something different, but I can't help feeling it was a cop-out that's chalk full of plot holes and glossed over explanations. I just wish she'd had the courage to go for something a little less tidy.

~SPOILERS BELOW YOU'VE BEEN WARNED~
I loved the majority of this book.
Up until the last 30 pages.
I really really REALLY hated the ending. Okay alright she saved everyone and everything, but she also LOST so much. She lost the people she cared for most. Now they don't even recognize her. That's not okay.
I wanted her to live a happy life as a successful queen with Pen and Mace and Elston and everyone at her side.

This last installment of The Queen of the Tearling trilogy was a let-down. The plot became muddy, the characters actions became inconsistent, and the biggest questions were unanswered. Usually when the big questions are unanswered I enjoy pondering the "what ifs" when the book is over, however, this one was just a disappointment. The writing style is still enjoyable, the concept is intriguing, it just went off the rails.
By the end I felt like I was reading a cheap knockoff of The Wizard of Oz.

Seriously-this book went way over to horror and bad sex scenes and the ending-what happened? It feels like this book doesn't fit with the others.

Good story, the underlying commentary on politics and religion was a bit too much. But as fantasy/dystopian with a hint of sci fi go, the end of this trilogy was not bad.

Arguably the worst ending to a trilogy I think I’ve ever read. The book was so good leading up to it, and then the last chapter or so basically erased the entirety of the other two books, making me frustrated and unsatisfied in immense amounts.
