⭐️⭐️(2/5 stars. And that's legit just for the first half of the book. The second half was basically like an entire different story)
What.
The fuck.
Just happened?
How the actual crap did it all go downhill so quickly???
Did her editor email her all "you missed your deadline!" And she rushed to her computer and wrote a bunch of random crap? She would have been better off having Kelsea wake up back in the cottage with Barty and Carlin and the entire thing had just been a dream.
I mean what was the ENTIRE ASS POINT OF THE FIRST TWO BOOKS
All those quotes at the start of chapters in the first two books about the Glynn Queen were just.. what? Bullshit? None of it even happened? TIME TRAVEL IS SUCH SHIT WHEN YOU USE IT AS AN ENDING TO AN ENTIRE ASS SERIES. THATS JUST LAZY WRITING.
I'm pissed. No wonder this book had such a lower rating. Common. Wtf.

“Sometimes I think: if they want to walk around armed and build fences and let a church tell them what to do, let them wallow in it. They can build their own town of closed thinking, and live there, and find out later what a shitty place it really is.”
I can completely understand why the ending of this trilogy might not sit well with readers. There’s a ton more that could have been done with the characters and the plot to make it feel less like the author slammed on the brakes and threw everyone for a loop during the final hundred pages. That said, I read this like my pants were on fire and can appreciate the story and its message for what it was, especially given the state of the world at present. It’s not for everyone, but I’m glad I stuck with it until the very end.

This book ties the whole series together and finally sheds light on all the mysteries and tangents (that can sometimes veer close to feeling like plot holes) from the first two books. I enjoyed this one the most out of the three, as its pacing is excellent and the many layers of the story shine through equally.
I feel that this series comprises an important cautionary tale in the current political climate.

If it weren't for the ending this would easily have been 5 stars. Don't get me wrong- it's still one of my favourite series but, just No.
Wow. Adding this trilogy to the list of books I will forever recommend to people. I was not sure how the author was going to warp up this series, but I am pleased. It did not end how I expected at all, but I wasn't really sure what to expect. I saw some Stephen King elements in here and one of his books even played a small cameo. Is Rowland Finn a nod to Randall Flagg?
Honestly worse than I woke up and it was all a dream, loved the series but the ending wasn’t for me which is so annoying! I loved the main character and she just got nothing for all her work in the end.
Well that sure wasn't what I was expecting.
This trilogy wound its way through the genres of fantasy, dystopia, scifi, and more, and created a compelling epic story that didn't overwhelm. I enjoyed the world established in the first book, wasn't so sure about the second book, and was conflicted and gratified even further in the third book. Johansen's characters are flawed and relatable, and her story is well constructed and executed. This is a hard one to review without spoiling, and I think it could easily be a controversial ending, but I for one feel satisfied with the final resolution.

I loved the end (which is a different reaction from most of the other folks who reviewed) -- I was shocked at first, but then it felt right that Kelsea has the chance to wipe that slate clean.
I hate when authors really fudge up the last book in a series. Ugh. I wanted more. It’s not like it was a “bad” ending but it didn’t suit what I wanted or expected.
