It took me almost six months to finish this book but it has nothing to do with the book itself and more with my lazy self.
In comparison to the mortal instruments this is a much better written book but I have the same problem with the chapters’ length, cause I think that when the chapters are shorter you read faster. But maybe that’s just me. Per usual I loved the little quote before every chapter.
In this book I almost didn’t care at all about the plot but the story wasn’t boring at all. I was mainly invested in the characters’ interactions and it still is my favorite part about Cassandra Clare’s books. The dialogue and the characters are what keeps me reading.
That being said I really enjoyed this book and I felt that it was a good start for the trilogy and that settled the story very well.

Well. This was not as good as the first ones. Or are they the last ones?? Oh well. At the beginning, the plotline was pretty much the same. A girl is thrown (by accident) into a world full of Shadowhunters, vampires, etc. She finds out that she has a power and some sort of destiny thingy. However, I don't like Tessa as much as I like Clary. Tessa has that "girls can't do anything" mentality. It drove me INSANE. YOU ARE SUPPOSED TO KICK BUTT. WHY AREN'T YOU? *proceeds to throw plate at wall* Sorry. I got a little emotional there. AND YOU ARE SUPPOSED TO BE WITH JEM. DUMB TESSA. DUMB MOVE. Will is also annoying. I have a feeling that Jem is going to die later. I'm upset because he is my favorite character. Besides some of the characters' inbility to do what they are supposed to as main characters coughcoughTESSAcoughcough, this was pretty good. Hopefully the rest will turn out as good as the Mortal Instruments.

this book was pretty good overall. to me it felt like the plot moved very well but the characters and their relationships felt more like they were settling up for later books in the series im absolutely intrigued but i’m not getting the hype for the infernal devices yet. Anyway i still plan to continue with clockwork prince! 3.75⭐️
