emotional slow-paced

I had a hard time getting into it and it just wasn’t enjoyable for me.

It’s so boring

Maybe I enjoyed this book because I am a therapist. I understand how it is to sit with others in their grief or as they go through their own challenges while I struggle at times to attend to my own. I found this book to be a delicate journey exploring aging, friendship, identity, grief, and so much more.

A road trip with an urn — interesting look at grief.   I wanted to like this character, but I found she couldn’t get out of her own way within the novel.  It is always interesting when the character is a therapist, and yet, can process in the same way she would instruct her clients to move forward.

The author did a good job writing characters significantly older than herself.  However, I found the story dragged in places and I did lose interest at times.  I enjoyed parts of Magda’s journey but overall the book lacked focus and tried to include too many journeys of exploration (physical, identity, grief, family, memory, etc.) Recommended.
