I think I didn’t pay enough attention to the audio or it didn’t grip me the way the physical book did because I very much enjoyed this on the second go-around. The plot line was direct and to the point but the world building left a lot open to be explored in the next book. I’m very excited to see the aftermath to Dimytr’s decision at the end!

Perfectly done tension, quest, purpose, and every kind of love. Just an excellent 160 pages.

As someone not familiar with Chicago or Polish lore this was a bit hard to follow and get into.

Didn't have many expectations about this book honestly. It was not how I pictured it from what I heard of it and I appreciated the setting and the emphasis on Slavic folklore which I've read about before and find quite fascinating.
I'm not usually a fan of urban fantasy but I must say that here the author was able to create a fitting atmosphere and an interesting setting, though I would have loved to see more.
The characters were interesting but I feel like we didn't see enough of them, I know it's a novella and overall we did get a decent characterization for the length but I wish we saw more about them getting to know each other as they spent so little time together that it's strange they formed this kind of bond.
Overall it was a nice read and might read the next one if I can get it on a subscription or library.

What a great world the author has built! Loved the elements of Polish/Slavic folklore set in modern day Chicago (and I don’t usually like the modern/fantasy combo) and I loved our trios of main characters. Can’t wait to start the next one, this is a quick read and I wanted more exploration in the magic and creatures!
