A history of the first official class of women at Oxford. The time period was interesting as was all of the academic tradition that has changed so drastically in the last 100 years (and really far less than that!). I was glad there was a resolution to the two main mysteries / conflicts in the story.

I will look forward to discussing this in book club!

Loved the historical detail. Wish 2 of 4 stories had not revolved around men though.

3.5 ⭐
I thought it wasn't too bad for a debut novel.
I did enjoy the premise, the 4 women at Oxford, in a time when women only just got the vote, the sexism and divide between men and women of the time,

I think it was just a tad slow for me, given I'm used to reading higher fantasy books or stories with quite a lot of action, sometimes I struggle with the slower non-fantasy fiction

I would look forward to seeing more of Joanna Miller's work!

Felt like a comfort read. I liked the different stories of the young women in the early 1920s,  but didn’t feel like it was doing anything new
