This work is revolutionary because it delves into the psychology of a being that is disgusted with itself, and no one had really thought about that before. If the year were 1990, yeah, this would get 5 stars.

This work is boring because it is 70% about what the vampires are feeling, and 30% about what they are doing. While that may be interesting for some, it just wasn't enough for me. It was a struggle to read.

In my mind, this story took away all the fear, mystery, wonder and cajones usually associated with vampire stories.

I have wanted to read this book for ages! I am so glad that I finally got to it. I haven't seen any of the on-screen adaptations, but I assume I will love them as well. Overall, the pacing of the story was really well done. I know now why so many people LOVE IT.

The movie was pretty good, huh?

Un buen libro.
Como no he visto la película me lo imaginaba diferente, con mas acción y menos sentimientos de dualidad entre el bien y el mal.
A lo mejor si lo releo mas adelante.

I think of this book as a stepping stone into Anne Rice's Vampire Chronicles. It's a rite of passage, an initiation, a struggle. It's like the main character is designed to be hated. Louis springs into immortality without really thinking about that choice, and then spends the rest of the book (which spans well over a century) complaining about it. He laments different facets of his life to the point where, near the end of the book, most of the other main characters are asking him "what is it you have to be upset about?" And the answer keeps changing. I liked Anne Rice's writing style, but I could not stand this character.

I picked this up in anticipation for the second season of the show, but I don't even really know how to properly rate or review it. It was really interesting to see the differences in the two, though parts of this felt almost... lackluster to me, and no one is quite as charming as I thought they'd be. Though I do love Claudia and Louis!

Anne Rice is a masterful storyteller, I'll give her that. I never really saw myself picking up this book, though I'm glad I gave it a chance anyway. With that being said, I'm not sure if I'll read any more of the series.
