🦋 My Review 🦋
This started out pretty good. I was enjoying it quite a bit. Best friends, he notices her “that way” for the first time…and then they get married in Vegas for funsies? Yea so they lost me at that part.
Even though I couldn’t wrap my head around the whole marrying for shits and giggles (to each his own right) I liked that it turned into a marriage of convenience (made sooo much more sense to me personally but again to each his own). The book went on, it was pretty good the narrators were fine. Then they lost me again.
And it’s not the story this time the book was just
way too long. I got so bored. I felt like it ran on and on and on. That’s just my personal opinion. All in all it’s a pretty good book.

I was given the opportunity to listen to the ALC of this book. The narrators did a good job for the most part. It's so much nicer in Duet format, which I appreciated.
I don't normally do the best friends to lovers trope, but I had a good time with it. Can't say it's my favorite (sometimes the spice felt awkward), but it definitely was heartwarming and an easy read.
My favorite part of the whole read was the "he falls first" trope. It was really cute how everyone saw it, but him.
It wasn't bad by any means. It just didn't really excite me either

Lauren Blakely is becoming another author where I can’t pass up an opportunity to read her books. Even though I haven’t read the first two books in the Love and Hockey series (they are definitely on Hambright PR for my chance to read and listen to this great book.
Asher and Maeve are best friends. Asher has been attracted to her for years, but hasn’t taken things any further. A marriage pact, turned Vegas wedding pushes them to really analyze their feelings. And of course, brings all the spice. Lauren’s spicy scenes are fantastic.
I love Maeve wearing Asher’s jersey to watch him play. There’s just something about wearing your man’s jersey that’s hot as anything.
I primarily listened to this one, and I couldn’t devour it fast enough. Dual narration is always a win in my opinion. Vanessa and Robert are the perfect Maeve and Asher.

Another solid one in the series. Though there is a background romance I hope she focuses on even though it’s been established behind scenes
Lauren Blakely’s “The Proposal Play” is hockey romance at its best! This third book in the Love and Hockey series has it all: best friends-to-lovers, fake marriage, sizzling chemistry and mental health.
Here’s the deal: Maeve impulsively bids on her best friend Asher at a bachelor auction (because PR nightmares are no fun), but then… Vegas happens. They wake up married and suddenly their fake love story is trending everywhere. They agree to keep up the charade for his charity launch and her big art gig, but surprise! That off-the-charts chemistry and years of friendship make faking it a little complicated.
Asher stole the show for me. He’s not just hot on the ice—he’s got layers. Emotional depth? Check. An instinct to protect and support Maeve? Double check. Their connection feels so genuine. You can tell these two have been through it all together, and watching them realize their feelings was so satisfying., and how they tackle life’s challenges together should be a template for future romance writers .
Add in unmatched friendships and you’ve got a total winner. Whether you’re here for the swoon, the spice, or the heartfelt moments, you’re going to love this book. Go grab it—and while you’re at it, check out the rest of the series too!
🎧 The audiobook is a total win! Vanessa Edwin and Robert Hatchet deliver an amazing duet performance as Maeve and Asher, perfectly capturing their chemistry, banter, emotions, and spice. Robert’s timing and humor were spot-on, and Vanessa’s portrayal of Maeve was flawless (her “crying while speaking” moments? So real!). If you love duet narration, this one’s a must-listen—5 stars all the way!

"Spectacular, give me 14 of them right now!" -ME
Best friends to lovers, marriage of convenience, hockey, forced proximity, MY WIFE, obsessed MMC: these are a few of my favorite things!
I love Lauren Blakely's writing, and I love this series in particular, so when I heard the tropes I knew I was toast! Did she write this book especially for me? Seems like it!
Asher and Maeve have been friends for 10 years. Yes, he's her brother's best friend, but he's hers too, and it really shows. He's funny, hot, kind, so thoughtful, and he anticipates her needs. 😍
Maeve is so fun, but thinks she's "too much" because of past relationships. But Asher likes HER-- all of her, not some version of her that he wants her to be.
Asher and Maeve have such good banter, they know each other so well, and they are each other's biggest fans at all times. Their friendship is unmatched, and their fake marriage is healthier than most real relationships! 😆
And, it turns out, their sexual chemistry is explosive! 🔥
The tension is amazing, and the mature conversations are almost as hot as the sexy stuff. (Almost)
Audiobook notes: This was narrated in duet (thank goodness), and the narrators both did a great job. Nobody's voice annoyed me! And... phew! My earholes were sweating! 🥵😆
Loved it, can't wait for the next book!
5⭐ 3🌶️for both ARC & ALC
I read and listened to advanced copies of this book, and these are my honest thoughts.
Thanks so much to Author Lauren Blakely and KP Simmon for giving me the eARC & ALC for review and letting me be a part of your team!

Narration 🎧🎧🎧🎧🎧
This book was so cute. I like how it touched on heavier topics like mental health but also kept it light hearted. This was such a great best friends to lovers, and I don’t think Asher could say “My Wife” enough. 😂😂 I did think it was a little long winded and could have been cut back a bit but it was still very enjoyable.
Robert and Vanessa did absolutely amazing in this narration. I love duet style narration and they absolutely crushed it!
I always have so much fun reading and listening to Lauren Blakely's books. This series keeps getting better and better. Lauren creates the most swoony hockey players, and I love them all. I was head over heels for Wesley, absolutely feral for Max, and now I can't get enough of Asher. I am a sucker for a friends-to-lovers romance. Maeve and Asher were long-time best friends who never took things further for fear of losing the amazing friendship they had developed.
While at her brother's wedding, Maeve and Asher agree to a marriage pact. When Maeve attends a charity fundraising auction and outbids a popular influencer who is up to no good, she wins a Las Vegas date with Asher. For laughs, they follow through with the wedding pact and have an Elvis-themed Vegas wedding. It's all fun and games until a wedding photo is leaked, and they have to stay married longer than planned.
I loved Maeve and Asher's sweet, fun, and steamy journey to love. They were so good together. Their love story has everything you'd want: a genuine connection, sizzling chemistry, top-tier banter, and open communication. The development of their relationship felt natural and real, and I loved seeing them work out their feelings for each other. The moment Asher realized he'd felt more for Maeve for a long time was perfect. There is nothing better than when the tension finally breaks and two people who are meant to be together finally give in to their feelings. The Proposal Play is a fun read! I highly recommend this story to those who love hockey romance with humor and heart.
Narration:
Vanessa Edwin and Robert Hatchet perform this audiobook using duet-style narration, and honestly, their performances are perfect. No notes. This story is already amazing, but the audio took it to another level. Vanessa and Robert fully embodied the characters and brought them to life. This audiobook is fantastic, and I thoroughly enjoyed my listening experience.
