This series has me in a chokehold. I love the Duet Narrations but even reading these books in physical or kindle format is amazing. The spice is perfect for me and fits well into the plot of the book. I do think there is a good balance between plot and spice which I always appreciate. These are interconnected standalones and I would recommend reading them in order because you get spoilers on the other relationships. I highly recommend listening to the audiobook version of this series in general but either way I would read it. The Boyfriend Goal was my favorite before reading this but I think this might be my favorite....best friends, fake marriage....I love it.
The Proposal Play is the third book in the Love and Hockey series by Lauren Blakely and follows Sea Dogs star Asher Callahan and quirky artist Maeve Hartley.

Since meeting at a grief counseling session years before, Asher Callahan and Maeve Hartley had been inseparable. Best friends forever. Special trips. Hanging out. But when she admits to her best friend, the best man at her brother's wedding, that Maeve doesn't think she'll meet anyone to marry her, Asher says he would. Two years later, and a dating auction later, the two of them find themselves in Vegas---and remember their pact. But it's only for fun and one night. Until they realize social media put a damper on their one night of spontaneous fun. Now, with their reputation on the line, they have to play the long game, including moving in together. There's no way the two can have romantic feelings for each other without ruining their friendship, right?
The Proposal Play was amazing and is now my new favorite in this series. The chemistry between our two leads was amazing. Friends to lovers can sometimes be difficult, and in my opinion, harder to write than enemies to lovers, because you have to give solid reasoning as to why now. The author does a solid job of setting up a believable change and development in feelings. The one thing I might have griped about in this book was a slight miscommunication trope that was but wasn't. It's hard to explain, but I get the why. Even so, that did not deter from my enjoyment. Asher and Maeve have solid a connection and often hilarious banter. Their humor and inside jokes with one another made me laugh out loud.
Maeve and Asher were downright adorable as they navigated their situation. The tension between them was absolutely delicious. And, as usual in this series, our two main characters also have issues they have to overcome and it always hits harder than I expect.
The spice was amazing and worth the wait. I thought Max was bossy, but O.M.G. Asher is everything I wanted, that I didn't know I needed, and then some. Ch 33. When I listened to it on the audiobook, I was fanning myself. Vanessa Edwin and Robert Hatchet did an outstanding job on this duet audiobook. Lauren Blakely does a fantastic job picking her voice casts.
If you want a laugh-out-loud, best-friends-to-lovers romance filled with heart and healing, The Proposal Play is your best bet. Can't recommend this one enough!

"Is there a guidebook for what's next after you temporarily marry your best friend as part of a pact?" 💕
I didn't think this series could get better, but it just did!! I think this is my favourite book in this series so far. It has best friends to Lovers and fake dating / fake marriage and it was just everything I was looking for in a book to get me started with this year's reading 💜
This was such a cute story and I really enjoyed the mental health representation in this story too. I listened to the audiobook of this and the narration was brilliant. I love a duet narration and Lauren Blakely always seems to get it so right with the narrators she chooses. 🎧
I really enjoy a sports romance and absolutely love Lauren Blakely's writing. I definitely recommend this book and this whole series and I can't wait for the next one 🏒

What a great freaking book!!! Lauren has been slaying these hockey romances & im honestly so obsessed with this series!
This book focuses on two best friends, Asher & Maeve, who we get glimpses of in the first two books. Maeve wants to save Asher during an auction so she bids on him & wins a date to Vegas. A while prior they formed a marriage pact & decide to act upon it during their time in Vegas and BOOM. A marriage of convenience was born.
In my humble opinion, friends to lovers is a superior trope so this book was EVERYTHING. Especially when these two friends have lowkey been pining after one another for YEARS. Maeve is a baddie artist working her way up in the art world. Asher is an amazing hockey player who cares so deeply about everyone in his circle. But when these two come together…ITS A FIREY INFERNO OF HEAT!! Asher is one filthyyyyyy mouthed man and I am in love.
Tropes:
Best friends to lovers
Marriage of convenience
Forced proximity
Sports romance
Found family
Marriage pact
It’s always been you

The Proposal Play was a fun twist on the friends to lovers, fake relationship situation. Hockey player Asher and artist Maeve have been friends forever and when a trip to Vegas ends in a marriage for fun it quickly turns into a marriage for real when they return to regular life. I enjoyed their friendship and going along with them as they realize their true feelings. Great addition to the series!
I listened to an audio copy of this book and it was narrated by Vanessa Edwin & Robert Hatchet. They both did an amazing job and I definitely recommend!

This story of Maeve and Asher hits all the right notes—sweet, funny, and full of heart. As every story of Lauren I’ve read so far.
From the playful banter to the deeply emotional moments, Vanessa Edwin and Robert Hatchet make the characters leap off the page, their chemistry palpable and their humor infectious.
This audio is in duet narration and for the better.
The slow burn is worth it, with emotional depth that explores anxiety and healing in a thoughtful way.
This story will leave you swooning. This is a feel-good romance that’s as touching as it is fun.

Highly entertaining! I am really enjoying this series. I especially enjoyed this book because I think the obsessive thoughts of wanting to help fix things for those you love is very relatable. I appreciate more stories shedding more light on mental health.
