I really enjoyed this fantasy. It was well-paced, full of challenges, and the mystery kept me hooked. There is some romance but it isn’t the bulk of the story. I enjoyed the variety of characters and range of abilities. There’s a slow immersion into this new world as you learn about it alongside Isla, so it wasn’t overwhelming. The ending was unexpected and I loved the twists. I think it could have worked as a standalone so I’m excited to see where the rest of the series goes.
