Short but did the job! 93 pages and a little Christmassy escapism for those who like dark mysteries. I agree with the author’s notes at the end, there should be more Christmas ghost stories you can finish in an evening or two by the fire.
I loved that it wasn't the typical joyful Christmas tale and instead was full of murder & thrills. It was a quick, but enjoyable read.

Very interesting novella! Had no idea how it was going to end. On the lighter end of the Christmas-y and heavier on the murder part of the “Christmas murder mystery” genre. Not sure if I liked it, but it definitely held my interest!

I enjoyed this short mystery with its somewhat unlikeable characters. The diary approach helped infuse the book with romance, suspense, and family drama. When the truth is revealed in part 2, it was a surprise. The only confusing piece to me was the very ending and what the very last sentence really means. Guess it's up to the reader to interpret that final part.

I quickly downloaded the audiobook before a road trip and my only requirements were that it be Christmasy. I have never read anything by Peter Swanson and I went into this completely blind.
Not the most riveting story, but I enjoyed the structure and setting.

Liked it! Vibey and spooky and I liked how open ended it was.
