3.5 ⭐️ One of my favorite novellas I’ve read. I was absolutely not expecting what happened halfway through, I literally shouted WHAT and kept flipping back and forth to the beginning. I also really like Emma’s character arc and the last sentence stuck with me. That epigraph though

A delightful little story that uses familiar tropes, characters, and settings to write a delightful, single-sitting thriller. The characters are not particularly likable, but they are amusing to watch.

I enjoyed the read
dark emotional mysterious tense medium-paced
Plot or Character Driven: A mix
Strong character development: Complicated
Loveable characters: No
Diverse cast of characters: No
Flaws of characters a main focus: Yes

2 1/2 stars rounded down. Meh. Don’t love it don’t hate it. I was not a fan of the juvenile way the male author wrote the female main character in the first half. The second half was better but still didn’t grip my attention. I will say that this was a very quick read. It’s definitely not a Hallmark Xmas movie romcom, which I appreciate.

A good festive thriller quick read!

Rounding up from 3.5! This was super fun to me. I love the twists and the ending and all the gothic British details. Overall a quick, fun, easy to get into read for me.
medium-paced

I only wish it was longer! Also the narrator's attempt at an American accent was very entertaining.

short and easy read with an unexpected twist. 3.5⭐️
