A Christmas thriller? Kind of fun, right? Peter Swanson? Sign me up! So this won't be for everyone - it's not a mushy, sweet Christmas story, that's for sure! I'm giving The Christmas Guest 3.5 stars and rounding it up to 4. I was riveted by the first 90%, but then it ended so abruptly, I thought I missed something. There was a great twist halfway through, that wasn't completely surprising, but was still highly enjoyable. The ending, though, was ambiguous and unclear and I didn't enjoy that.

If Adam really did write Ashley's diary and Emma was either killed by Adam or at her own hand, that would be a shocking twist, but it's really unclear and not in a fun way.

Otherwise, this was a great, fast-paced novella!

Overall, I enjoyed the story. Just felt a little detached based on the writing style. This was my first Peter Swanson book and this has made me want to read one of is full length novels.
