listen I’ve been waiting for Bree/Sel since we met Sel in the last book, so I’m here for it. this one was slightly harder to follow at the end with the dream world and the blood walking.

the ending???? helllooooo, i loved it.
there was a lot going on in this one.. like the entire book i felt, but it was easy enough to follow with the style of writing Deonn uses. however.. i feel like I definitely had to have missed something at some point. I did lvoe the characters for the most part, and I liked how we got some more of the ancestors histories (on both sides) in this book. the only thing that annoys me in these books is how bree handles emotions of .. any kind really ?? i keep having to remind myself that im a decade older than this character and probably wouldve acted worse lmao
i do have some questions about the ending as it relates to Vera's line and the Scion thing and idk i'm gonna read the next boook.

This book is a brilliant sequel and Deonn absolutely takes it a step up. Some brilliant writing that had me on tender hooks and caught up in the emotion at times. My only issues come in one part of the romance which feels a bit like pandering to some of the audience and a second part to the ending feeling a little rushed. Overall a fantastic read and I can’t wait for the third in the trilogy!

This was a great follow-up to Legendborn! I enjoyed getting to know Bree, Alice, Sel, William, and the rest of the cast of characters better. I particularly loved seeing Alice shine in this book! Deonn does such an incredible job of creating fascinating characters and building a world of magic and secrets that feels so connected to the real world and history. The plot has so much complexity and suspense. After reading the final page, I immediately put the next book on hold at the library!

Tracy Deonn never disappoints!! Even on a reread of Bloodmarked I am blown away by her writing, character exploration, plot development, and social commentary. Such a timely and heart wrenchingly beautiful story. I hope I am mentally prepared to tackle Oathbound next!
