Guessed the ending by chapter 2

Wow, this book was such a great read.

I loved the whole concept of this book and thought it was very well executed. The atmosphere was dark and spooky, and very much up my alley. I didn't think the love triangle was that great.
SpoilerI felt like we were supposed to think that Sarah was the superior love interest and it felt like Shady would end up with her, but I wasn't feeling the connection. Like there moments when it seemed that Shady wasn't that into Cedar and I thought he would be discarded when Sarah realised her feelings for Shady. But I liked Cedar and I wanted her to pick him over Sarah but I didn't feel like Shady was that into him. I hope I'm making sense here.

Overall, this was definitely a fun read and I can't wait to read more books from this author. Already eyeing up her next release which doesn't have a synopsis yet, but if it's anything like this, I know I'll enjoy it.

Excellent bi representation, a wonderful soundtrack, and an interesting premise. Found it just a wee bit convoluted and there were an awful lot of characters!!

I love reading a spooky ghost book with a cool magic system in place! In this case it’s ghosts via magic haunted musical instrument which is a really unique choice - I don’t think I’ve read anything similar before. I didn’t care much about the romantic relationships involved in this one but I loved loved LOVED the sibling relationships and the other familial ones. I also adored the atmospheric descriptions especially when Shady was running around chasing her ghosts.

And of course loved that there was queer representation both in a main and side character!

Overall I’d recommend this one to anyone who loves ghost stories and hauntings, as well as fans of unique settings for stories and fans of a bit of murder mystery - I did guess whodunnit by the end but there was a good chunk of time when I wasn’t sure haha. In general it had a very cool vibe and I can’t wait to see what the author writes next! So far both of their books that I’ve read have been atmospheric with intriguing magic styles, as well as creepy! You can’t beat a creepy atmosphere and ghosts haha!
