I genuinely struggled to see why this is termed a classic. This was vile and disturbing nothing in. It seems to speak against his actions and at most parts I was genuinely fucking confused if this guy was in the least sane. Wow, the writing style was somewhat entertaining, the content and ruined the entire entire thing for me. All this taught me was that men are disgusting. I am completely horrified.

Right when you think you can no longer stomach your foray into Humbert Humbert's twisted mind, Nabokav sneaks in a gut-punchingly lurid reminder (Dolores sobbing herself to sleep, a look of helplessness peeked when not under the constant, direct observation of H.H.) that this novel is meant to act as a reckoning with, not celebration of, the pedophilia displayed therein. This ability to ensure the story is constantly framed in light of the trauma endured by Dolores even when told through the lens of delusional H.H., coupled with Nabakov's somehow beautiful use of language, urges you forward to the end.

I have held off reading Lolita for years because of the subject matter, but I'm glad I finally read it through. I will come back with a lengthier review and comments when I have time, but in short, I can certainly see why this is always ranked as one of the best novels of all time.

I think Lolita is a book that people should read, because it covers a very controversial topic in a way that makes it stand out. The way the book is written makes the reader understand and almost sympathize with Humbert Humbert, even though the things he does are obviously very wrong. I kept needing to remind myself that this man was raping an innocent girl and getting away with it. I understand that the way that H.H. describes everything fits in with his character, but for me personally it made it tough to keep reading sometimes.

I am just disturbed and grateful to be done reading this book.
I did not like it not only because of the pedophilia but also because of the writing itself. It seemed to be all over the place often times with tangents about random sights, feelings, experiences, etc,. It was pretty boring ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
As another review stated, it could lose about 50 pages in the middle.

nu vat tikrai nereikėjo šiai knygai egzistuoti. puikiai parašytas romanas, bet neapsakomai šlykštus. nieko baisesnio nesu skaičiusi. negana to, kad apie pedofilą dar taip meniškai, susuktai eina siužetas net sunku sekti
