An enjoyable Christie- not her best, not her worst. They are some descriptions of Africans that are of the times, and definitely a Red Scare view of politics. More adventurous than a Poirot or Marple, which made it feel more exciting.
Moderate: Racism, Suicide attempt
Minor: Death

This book was just amazing. The plottwist are lurking around the corner. Keeps you wanting to read more and more. Makes you forget you are reading a book.
Characters are smart and don't make dum decisions. Very interesting and unusual story, but in a good way.
Definitely recommend.

Not gonna lie...I saw the 1954 and groaned. Then Christie started talking about government plots, and I groaned again while thinking, "Oh boy. Here we go again. Anti-communist global cabal Christie."
Fortunately, this read was far better than Passenger to Frankfort.
Or it could be that all of the talk about fascism and charismatic leaders backed by billionaires who are only out for themselves hit a little too close to home. Who's to say?
At any rate, Destination Unknown will never be my favorite, but it was a surprisingly enjoyable read. One point in the book's favor is that Hillary/Olive is a likable and plucky heroine. Also, the spy stuff centers on people rather than nebulous conspiracies and the conclusion shows that
Whew. I have only 3 of Christie's full-length mysteries left.

at the end of the day, it's always the rich people who are out to get us.Whew. I have only 3 of Christie's full-length mysteries left.
Y’all. I’m not gonna lie this one had a wack-a-doodle third act. Usually her thrillers and adventure stories stretch your limits of disbelief but this one really took the cake

A typical Agatha Christie with easy to read writing, delightful reading and suspense that has your toes wiggling with wanting to find out the truth!
There's no book written by her that does not have some surprising elements and Destination Unknown also keeps your interests up with ease

READ THIS STORY. While I realize there's a checkbox for "My review has spoilers", I prefer not to include spoilers in my reviews.
This was the first Agatha Christie story I'd ever read and now I'm kicking myself for waiting so long. I can't wait to find out if I have a new favorite writer. I'll have to check out more of her writing.
From the beginning of the first chapter I was hooked. I felt just as dedicated to discovering the truth as Mr. Jessup. His character traits became mine as we worked to get to the truth.
Then as Hilary takes up her mission in the plot her worries and concerns become mine. I feel for her, and with her, in her desperation. I'm also with her as we become more intrigued by our mission.
Over time, and many books, I've learned that no matter how much I enjoy reading a book the end can always be a huge disappointment. Thankfully that was far from the case in this story. Even at the very end she still surprised me.
Generally, any book that can keep me guessing is a good book to me. Too often I find everything happens exactly the way I think it will and there's nothing entertaining about that. I will absolutely read more Agatha Christie and soon.
