Best book I’ve ever read. By far.
It’s not only about the meaning of it, which is superb, but the word games are so funny and tasteful. A pleasure to read.

Timeless. Utterly delightful, and an excellent escape from reality.

read this in the school library today

an earnest attenpt at guiding you to the ways of the whimsical, with the swift wit and comical social abstractions of the brilliant oscar wilde (dotted with some personal photos of such absurd moments as sitting by the heathrow arrivals gate, sleep-deprived and battling the oncoming jetlag, furiously typing out an essay on the semiotics of set theory in ‘giovanni’s room).

how one summarises the laughable manners of the aristocracy in a spat about blueberry muffins, or the semiotic importance of being e(a)rnest is only understood upon melting into the hearty prose of the nineteenth century’s most prolific playwright.

at a distance, it can easily be taken for granted that the man behind the farcical antics of the victorian stage was deservedly celebrated, but it must be stressed that his fall from grace was truly the most inane process of ostracisation demonstrated on modern society. i use the term ‘modern’ intentionally, because wilde was possibly one of the few beginning to take to the intricate inside jokes of the modernist’s cynicisms.

only dull people are brilliant at breakfast, so i invite you to feast on a three-course meal and devour this book for dessert!

This book is like a British soap opera written and shot by a sarcastic Irishman. Needless to say, I loved this book. My copy actually included two other plays—“Lady Windermere’s Fan” and “An Ideal Husband”. If you enjoyed “The Importance of Being Earnest”, I highly recommend those as well.

R.I.P. Oscar Wilde.. you would have loved Studio C skits
