Wanted something short and light to read so i gave this a re-read.
This has aged so brilliantly; still so sharp and absurd.

I read this play and then listened to the L.A. theater works production and I had the best time.
Lady Bracknell is an absolute riot and the whole effect was just such fun.

Witty. Impressionist. Criticizing vanities of society in its own light manner.
A forerunner to theater of absurd. Comparable to Pygmalion or Man and Superman of GB Shaw.

Oscar Wilde did what he did best, namely write a satire, in this case mocking the mannerism and social rules of the Victorian upper class. However, in doing so, the characters are flat and merely tools to get the point across. There are also some plot holes, or you might call them bits of carelessness as the message of the play is above it all. Overall, an entertaining piece of mockery.
