3.5 stars. While nice, I wasn't wholly convinced by the romance part of the book, Rocco's process of falling in love in particular. Simon's process of coming out of his shell and healing his relationship with Levi were lovely to witness though. I also liked the town of Cherry Creek and its inhabitants and I'll be sure to read more about them in the future.

This did not impact my rating of the book, because they were existing characters from another author, but I absolutely can't stand that the brothers with the last name 'Motel' own and operate a hotel.

Beautiful start to a new series. This is such an amazing read. There are so many layers to the main characters and it’s wonderful watching those layers unfurl and seeing Rocco and Simon grow together. They are not without flaws but who is?
Their chemistry is palpable but it is a lovely slow burn with the steam slowly inching higher and higher.
This book just hooked into my heart and wouldn’t let go. Expect a tiny bit of angst, and lots of feels, I did need to wipe away the odd tear, before Rocco and Simon’s HEA was achieved.
We’re also introduced to a wonderful cast of side characters and I can’t wait to see who gets their story next. I highly recommend this superbly crafted book.

The first 10-15% of the book was kinda dry, boring, and hard to get through. Almost DNF’d it then.

So glad I didn’t, though! I love the deaf representation, the fact that most people were so willing to learn ASL, the family problems.

Very complex and unique story.

This was a nice read if a little bit too introspective. I liked both Simon and Rocco and think their issues were handled well. Simon’s growth that maybe people weren’t thinking of him in the same lens he held himself was a good journey.

It was a little ridiculous that Simon was pouring his life story out to Rocco after only meeting him in person once. Then things started to pile on a bit too much for Simon when Eric appeared.

I think there are too many characters in this book with pre-existing relationships that I think we’re supposed to know from other series. I don’t appreciate that when this is supposed to be the start of a new series. This book also felt a little ridiculous as I swear nearly everyone was LGBTQ+. I’m struggling to remember a female character in this that wasn’t a passing worker.

I would have liked to see these characters blossom after all the struggle, it felt like this book sorely needed a part two.

I don’t know about this one. There were too many things that rubbed me the wrong way.

The way Simon’s virginity (and his “chubbiness”) was depicted was ridiculous. In my opinion, it’s not proper representation if you have to make it the defining characteristic of the character and mention it constantly. That does not help normalize anything; it has the opposite effect, making anyone who might relate to it feel like a freak along with Simon. I also seriously doubt any 36-year-old would orgasm because someone touched their waist. Honestly.

I didn’t understand why Levi hated Simon so much, if he even did. All the family history and the names thrown around were confusing. I did find the insight into the Deaf community interesting though, as well as learning about Simon’s Jewish heritage. The Simon-Rocco relationship was also sweet. But there were too many other things I didn’t like.

The epilogue being just a picture felt like a mockery when I expected to get, you know, an actual epilogue. I wanted to know if Rocco would be continuing with his porn career. The whole porn actor thing isn’t usually something I read if I have a choice, but this book had all these glowing reviews, so I figured I’d give it a shot. But I still don’t understand how someone would want to be in a romantic relationship where one party is having sex with other people for a living. But maybe that’s just me—just like this book wasn’t for me.

I listened to the audiobook.
I wanted to read Simons story for a while now. And sadly it wasn’t my favorite.
I try to elaborate more later

Solid 4 stars mostly for Rocco. I loved him. I'm a fan of EM Lindsey and her non-traditional MCs. I love learning more about the Deaf community through her books. I'm glad we are done with Levi and Simon's part of this world now. Two books of their strained abd weird relationship was more than enough. I think that's what took a star for me. There could have been at least a dozen less pages about all their issues and angst.
