Thank you, NetGalley for this ARC of this poetry collection!
This author seems to just not know how to stick to one emotion or one subject. They give a sad poem then an inspirational one to try to make you feel hope. Sad then Hope Sad then Hope Sad then Hope Sad then Hope over and over again, it's like "OKAY, WE GET IT"
THEN they try to make it seem like you have no control over your future and no choice on how you succeed.
THE ONLY GOOD THING ABOUT THIS BOOK WAS THE WRITING STYLE. Iain has such a beautiful writing style so it's very unfortunate that his poems are so bad.

I want to give this 4-5 stars because I have always adored everything he writes, but this was good not great. I miss his original “I Wrote This For You” style.

Most were enjoyable and relatable, I just wish they’d been longer and more in depth
3 hopeful stars.
I really like the spilled ink sort of poetry where things are expressed so openly and raw. This whole collection felt very spilled ink and I enjoyed the latter sections more than the earlier ones. Overall, I liked another poetry collection by Thomas more than this but there were a few times I felt a little choked up. The ending notes got to me because the past few years have been so rough. It's beautiful and wonderful to have and hold onto hope. To spread it out for others to grasp onto as well. I'm not sure why I felt such a disconnect for most of this but I will go and read a few other collections to see how I feel.
