Stunning, educational and poetic. Though just a small part of the book, I really appreciated the section around gaslighting - did not know the full background of the term.

I don’t really like reading memoirs, but I do like when books keep me engaged and this got a little too hard to follow in certain chapters since the author would introduce random stories to “compliment the story” that kind of threw me off sometimes.

Another voice I am glad I heard. It's a hard story to hear... I'm glad that she got out. I wish her all the love and good energy. I really enjoyed how this book was set up as vignettes. It made it easier for me to stop and reflect on that aspect of the authors message.

THIS BOOK
Machado truly did something innovative and daring with this, and it was executed so well. it truly blew me away, i think this should be regarded as a modern classic
i had a list of so many pages to reference back to and it was so difficult to narrow down my favorite quotes, because each is so unique and adds something new. with its difficult central subject matter of abuse in a queer relationship, it's truly so hauntingly captivating and so purposeful with its use of imagery, prose, and shuffling of narrative lenses. i really want to own a copy of this book, because i think it’s one that you can keep re-reading and have new interpretations with each repeat
