Bit too preachy….

okay

The beginning of this book really had me, but it lost steam and became really repetitive. The second half I listened to on audible to finish it while I worked. It IS good but it wasn’t… life changing. I plan to read it again later and try to see what else I can get out of it

It had good things to say but it kind of felt like too much. Like, every chapter was crammed with a bunch of stuff. I think this book would be better to read in small chunks rather than listen to in a few days like I did. I did appreciate how she was open with many stories about her life

This book opened my eyes to see which windows i needed to open in order to become the woman i want to be. I missed the person I was before high school, before peer pressure and the concepts of the modern world stuck themselves into my brain, because it made me cynical and impatient. I didn't know how to fix it. This book, while it took me forever to read, helped me a gain a better understanding of the expectations I need to adjust for myself, and what I need to put into my relationship with God in order to be closer to Him.

When I got this book, I didn't think it could make any difference. How could a book help me to fix a decade of anxiety and depression when therapy was hardly cutting it for me? But I didn't realize this book was centered around a personal relationship with God, and as a born-again Christian, I'm grateful I didn't know at first, because I would have probably been too scared to pick it up. Instead, I gave it a shot and I'm so glad I did. Following this advice and growing fervent in tending to my spiritual needs has brought great change in my personality, my daily life, my relationship with others and most importantly, people walk into my home and feel love, instead of the previous chaos and frustration.

Now, this book is not perfect. She is definitely a better blogger than an author- but she is speaking from her heart and that's exactly how it reads. So yes, she rambles. Yes, some of the comparisons are a stretch and perhaps ridiculous, but her intentions are good hearted and that much is clear. It was nice to hear about this from someone who was actually on this rollercoaster too, instead from a person who has never had spirals of self-hatred and contempt because they spent years in an ivy-league college studying psychology. It's just a regular person, sharing her experiences, and I think the vulnerability in this is astounding and admirable.

If you think a good Bible study can fix anything that ails you, you might like this. Even as a Christian, it was WAY too much “demons, spiritual warfare, the devil is coming for you” for me.
