I sort of enjoyed this book but feel I was not in the right place to read it.
It was informative in a readable way and gave good insights into the brain. Yes this book is a Christian and it had very valid points to make but for me at this time, not for me.

I enjoyed it but again, I have read this book before by other authors. I liked the personal stories and the benefit to me listening was the reminder.

Really enjoyed this book and my first read by Jennie Allen! Book walks through breaking spirals off toxic thoughts and how to change those cycles by trusting in God

For someone who have experience with anxiety, this book is a breath of fresh air. It’s real, it’s raw and it’s faith based. I love how Jennie share her experiences and her truth with reads as a way to not only relate but to help them become better...not perfect, but better! I also dug into the her Anxious Guide which is an added plus for those of us who struggle with anxious thoughts! I strongly encourage others to read AND apply this GOOYH in your life!

The person who purchased this for me had very good intentions. Unfortunately it isn't a useful book for me. This was very difficult and annoying to read. Unless you are a devout Christian, this book will not be useful for you either.

The author also puts down self help books... which I find funny, because that doesn't change the fact that this is also a self help book.

I feel like this book wasn’t even really about what the book says it’s about. I had to force myself to finish it. It wasn’t really anything I haven’t heard already. Basically just a “trust jesus” book- which is great but I was hoping to learn new things! I thought it would super resonate with me but was just meh.

I had the pleasure of listening to Jennie Allen as a guest speaker at our local church and quickly connected with her mindset on anxiety, overthinking, and other modern day struggles many are dealing with today. I particularly liked how she combined both science and scripture to support her ideas and give advice, which is rare in Christian-centered self help books.

This book felt a bit surface level though and I couldn’t relate to a lot of her personal anecdotes. Her contagious, in-person enthusiasm for the subject was also lost in the writing style which disappointed me. The topics and advice still gave me a lot to think about so it was mostly a success.

Based on the title, I was super excited to read this book and learn from it. I gave it two stars because while I did glean a bit, there were statements made that were definitely unhealthy thinking strategies suggested. It was also very girlfriend-y which came off disingenuous. Overall, I felt like it had great potential and just really fell through.
